“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. “For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it."
-- Matthew 7:13-14 --

In the 2025 State of Theology Survey (https://thestateoftheology.com/), 47% of evangelicals agreed with the statement, "God accepts the worship of all religions, including Christianity, Judaism, and Islam." Additionally, 100% of evangelicals agreed with the statement. "The Bible is the highest authority for what I believe." Putting the two statements together leads me to wonder what those surveyed actually believe. For example, 53% of those surveyed agreed that the Holy Spirit is a force, not a personal being, yet 98% of them agree that there is only one true God consisting of three persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This survey concludes, “Many of the survey answers from evangelicals in 2025 reveal an alarming lack of biblical literacy, as well as a tendency to hold contradictory beliefs without seeming to recognize the incongruity.”
Islam
Muslims believe in the oneness of God (Allah), the creator of all things, and in the virgin birth of Jesus. They revere Jesus as a great prophet and servant of God. Muslims reject the divinity of Jesus and the triunity of God. The Quran teaches that Jesus will ultimately deny claiming divinity – “And on Judgment Day Allah will say, “O Jesus, son of Mary! Did you ever ask the people to worship you and your mother as gods besides Allah?” He will answer, “Glory be to You! How could I ever say what I had no right to say? If I had said such a thing, you would have certainly known it” (Al-Ma’idah 5:116). The deity of Jesus and the triunity of God are clearly presented in the Bible (Matt. 3:16–17; 28:19; Phil. 2:5–8; Col. 2:8–9). The Jesus of the Bible publicly proclaimed His deity (John 8:58; 10:30; 14:10–11).
Islam teaches that Allah protected Jesus from harm, raising him to the heavens while making it appear to his enemies that they had succeeded in killing him. The person who was crucified was someone made to resemble Jesus, leading to confusion among his enemies. This teaching from Islam clearly contradicts Scripture. The God of the Bible did not protect Jesus from physical harm. “He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities… the Lord was pleased to crush Him, putting Him to grief” (Isa. 53:5, 10).
According to the Quran, some Jews boasted about killing Jesus, but he wasn’t really crucified – “We killed the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, the messenger of Allah. But they neither killed nor crucified him—it was only made to appear so. Even those who argue for this ‘crucifixion’ are in doubt. They have no knowledge whatsoever—only making assumptions. They certainly did not kill him” (An-Nisa 4:157). The Bible teaches that Jesus was crucified. “Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ—this Jesus whom you crucified” (Acts 2:36). If Jesus was not crucified then He could not have died for our sins on the cross thereby invalidating the gospel of Christ – “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures” (1 Cor. 15:3-4).
Buddhism
Buddhists do not depend on the existence of a god who can save people from their sins. They consider salvation from suffering to be an individual affair. There is no need for a savior to rescue them from the condemnation of sin. In denying their need for a savior, they are denying the existence of the God of the Bible who sent “His only begotten Son into the world” so “that the world might be saved through Him” (John 3:16–17). Although Buddha never considered himself to be a god or some other divine being, he considered himself to be a lightworker who helps others along their path. He was exalted to godhood and is worshipped by his followers.
The Bible decrees that all of our worship belongs to God alone. “You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth” (Ex. 20:3-4). “I am the Lord, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, nor My praise to graven images” (Isa. 42:8; 48:11). Jesus said to Satan, “It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only’” (Deut. 6:13; Matt. 4:10).
Hinduism
Hinduism regards Jesus Christ as one of many manifestations of God who He sent to earth to help humanity, but He is not the only path to salvation. No single religion, such as Christianity, has a monopoly on truth. Different religions ultimately point to the same truth. Thus, there are many paths that lead to heaven. The Bible tells us something different. Jesus stated, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matt. 7:13–14). He also said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6).
Judaism
Judaism does not recognize the deity of Jesus Christ. He is viewed as a historical figure – a Jewish teacher or rabbi, but not the promised Messiah because He did not fulfill all of the Old Testament messianic prophecies during His first advent on earth. As a monotheistic religion, Judaism does not believe in the triunity of God because, “The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!” (Deut. 6:4).
Roman Catholicism
Roman Catholicism venerates Mary as the Queen of Heaven and Earth based on Revelation 12:1 – “A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.” This woman is a symbolic representation of Israel in the Old Testament as the wife of God (Isa. 54:5-6; Jer. 3:6–8). Being clothed with the sun speaks of the glory, dignity, and exalted status of Israel, God’s covenant people. The picture of the moon under her feet possibly describes God’s covenant relationship with Israel since new moons were associated with worship (1 Chron. 23:31; 2 Chron. 2:4; 8:13; Ezra 3:5; Ps. 81:3). The twelve stars represent the twelve tribes of Israel. Other symbolic women include Jezebel who represents paganism (Rev. 2:20), the woman clothed in purple and scarlet represents the apostate church (Rev. 17:3–6), and the bride of the Lamb represents the true church (Rev. 19:7–9).
Roman Catholicism teaches that Mary intercedes on the behalf of sinners. I remember growing up as a Roman Catholic and praying, “Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now at the hour of our death, amen.” This intercessory ministry of Mary is refuted in the Bible. “Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us” (Rom. 8:34). “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Tim. 2:5).
Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses
Both the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) and the Jehovah’s Witnesses (JWs) deny the deity of Christ. Mormons believe in the plurality of Gods – the Father is a God, the Son is a God, and the Holy Spirit is a God. The JWs teach that Jesus is a god, that only the Father is Jehovah, and the Holy Spirit is a force, not a personal being.
Oneness Pentecostalism
Although Oneness Pentecostalism believes in the deity of Christ, they deny the triunity of God by teaching that God manifested Himself as the Father in the Old Testament, as the Son in the New Testament gospel accounts (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John), and as the Holy Spirit from Pentecost forward (Acts 2).
Summary
There are approximately 4,300 recognized religions throughout the world. I summarized a few of the more popular belief systems. Here is a question that you need to ask yourself especially if you belief that God accepts the worship of all religions: how can the God of the Bible accept the worship of those who deny the deity of Christ Jesus and/or who worship other gods?
The Bible is very clear - “An hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth” (John 4:23–24). Jesus said that He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life (John 14:6). There is no other way!
“Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name, which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”
