The Only Way To Heaven

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."
-- John 14:6 --

During an episode of Fox & Friends (August 19, 2025), President Trump called into the show and said, “I want to try and get to heaven, if possible.” He is worried that he will not go to heaven when he dies if he is unable to broker an end to the war in Ukraine. Trump acknowledged that he is no saint.
I voted for Donald Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024. He is a great businessman and president who knows how to get things done. He is right in saying that he is no saint. I say this from the standpoint of the inerrant and infallible word of God – the Bible. The Greek rendering of saint is hagios – one who is holy, set apart, consecrated. The apostle Paul wrote, “To the saints who are at Ephesus and who are faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ… you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household” (Eph. 1:1–2; 2:19). Thus, a saint is someone who has expressed genuine faith in Christ Jesus and is a member of God’s household – the body of Christ, His church (Eph. 5:23; Col. 1:24).
Donald Trump may be the President of the United States, but he is also a man – someone who has inherited the sin of the first man and is under the condemnation of death. “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned” (Rom. 5:12). Positionally, Trump is, by nature, a child of God’s wrath (John 3:36; Eph. 2:3). Additionally, like all of us, he commits sin – “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). No matter how hard you try to earn God’s favor by your good works, it is not enough. It’s like trying to jump fifty feet from one cliff to another – you are not going to make it even if you jump forty-nine and a half feet, missing the mark by six inches!
“Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness” (1 John 3:4). To be lawless is to transgress (break, violate) the moral laws of God. “For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all” (James 2:10). It is impossible to perfectly keep all of the moral laws of God twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week, from the moment you are born to the moment you die. Have you ever taken the name of God in vain (Exod. 20:7)? Have you ever taken a pen from your supervisors desk thinking that he will not miss it (Exod. 20:15)? Have you even been jealous of someone because this person has what you want (Exod. 20:17)? If you did any of these things just one time in your life, you are guilty of transgressing the entire moral law of God. “The wages of sin is death” (Rom. 6:23) – to perish forever in the lake of fire (Rev. 20:11–15).
There is hope!
The perfect and holy eternal God stepped out of eternity in the person of Christ Jesus. His purpose was simple yet profound – to be the perfect sacrifice has payment for our sins, thus eternally satisfying God’s wrath against sin. “In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10). He purchased His church “with His own blood” on His cross (Acts 20:28; Col. 1:20). Christ Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose victoriously from the grave on the third day (1 Cor. 15:3–4).
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom. 6:23).
“If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation” (Rom. 10:9–10).
“And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:11–13).
President Trump – I will pray that this simple message of salvation finds you, either through this blog or by some other means. There is no uncertainty in my heart, mind, and soul that I will spend eternity in the presence of God my Savior because Christ Jesus died for my sins, was buried, and was raised from the dead on the third day.
Christ Jesus is the only way to heaven!
