“You shall not murder." - Exodus 20:13
The following is an excerpt from a Fox News Article dated 11/10/2022:
Montana voters rejected the Born-Alive Infant Protection Act that would have required medical professionals to perform lifesaving medical care on infants who survived abortions or were born prematurely. The measure failed by around 20,000 votes, with 52.6% voting against it and 47.4% in favor of its passage at the time The Associated Press called the race.
The ballot measure:
"A health care provider performing an abortion shall take all medically appropriate and reasonable steps to preserve the life and health of a born-alive infant who is viable. If an abortion performed in a hospital result in the live birth of a viable infant, the health care provider shall provide immediate medical care to the infant," the ballot measure stated.
Has anyone heard of the physician's Hippocratic Oath - "First do no harm" - or read the first article of the United States Declaration of Independence - "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."
By rejecting the "Born-Alive Infant Protection Act" you are telling physicians to violate their sworn oath to do no harm, and you are denying real people, who did nothing wrong, their unalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness!
We are living in a culture of death that was instituted by the father of lies, Satan (John 8:44), and perpetuated by people whose minds are completely depraved because of their continual rejection of God (Romans 1:28). The apostle Paul wrote that they are "filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful" (Romans 1:29-31).
This fits well with those who abort the innocent then show no mercy to them when they are born alive! They are no less evil than Adolf Hitler who ordered the systematic murder of some six-million Jews across Nazi Germany occupied Europe between 1941 and 1945.
The Center of Disease Control (CDC) reports that approximately 6.6 million abortions were performed between 2010 and 2019. This equates to an average of 660,000 abortions per year. During this same time period there were approximately 359,000 firearm deaths in the United States (usafacts.org - government data from various sources including the CDC). Thus, there were nearly twice as many innocent babies murdered by abortion than people killed by guns between 2010 and 2019.
All murder, with the exception of capital punishment, is sin against the One who created life! The Bible does not specifically teach the human life begins at conception; however, long before modern science, people understood that a planted seed produces after its kind (apple seed produces apples, etc.). We see this presented in Genesis 1:11-12 - "Then God said, “Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit after their kind with seed in them”; and it was so. The earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good." After God formed the man and woman, He blessed them and said to them "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth" (Genesis 1:28).
Here are a few passages that teach God is directly involved with human life in the womb.
>> Psalm 127:3 - "Behold, children are a gift of the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward."
>> Psalm 139:13 - "For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb."
>> Ecclesiastes 11:5 - "Just as you do not know the path of the wind and how bones are formed in the womb of the pregnant woman, so you do not know the activity of God who makes all things."
>> Isaiah 49:1,5 - "The LORD called Me from the womb; From the body of My mother, He named Me ... And now says the LORD, who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, so that Israel might be gathered to Him."
>> Jeremiah 1:5 - “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
>> Luke 1:41 - "When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit."
As medical technology progresses, scientists and medical professionals agree that human life begins at conception - when the sperm of a male fertilizes the egg of a female. A new organism within the womb has its own DNA, distinct from the DNA of the mother and father. This alone dictates the beginning of a new human life. Within three weeks of conception, the newly formed infant has a heartbeat, a circulatory system, and organs. If this technology existed in 1973, the United States Supreme Court, in adjudicating Roe vs Wade, would have voted against a woman's right to have an abortion. At that time, it was believed that fetal tissue was part of the mother's body thus the saying "My Body, My Choice." The Supreme Court held that the United States Constitution protected a woman's right to an abortion prior to the viability of the fetus - the point at which a baby can be resuscitated at delivery and survive without significant morbidity. This viability is medically defined as 24 weeks (after 6 months of pregnancy).
Accordingly, if Roe vs Wade was still in effect, any abortions beyond 24 weeks would be considered murder of a living, breathing human life.
We as a nation have adopted this culture of death, and we will eventually pay a heavy price - an eternal price for those who reject God.

But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance."
Addendum - Pew Research Survey
A survey conducted on May 17, 2022 found the following:
On average, 52% of those who claim a religious affiliation (Protestant, Catholic) believe that abortion should be legal in most or all cases while 46% believe that abortion should be illegal. In 2014, 33% of evangelicals believed abortion should be legal while 63% believed it should be illegal.
These numbers clearly indicate that many evangelicals today do not know, or do not care to know, what God's word says about life in the womb from conception to birth. It is truly a sad state of affairs!
